The Tokyo Express is a rich family saga set in post war and the modern day and follows the stories of two men from the same family in Ireland who travel to Japan and find love. The story opens just as the tsunami has hit and Conor is desperately seeking his lost wife Mimi, who had returned to her hometown after too many arguments. Conor now realises it was his own fault and is reminded how his grandfather Owen also found love in post-war Tokyo amid the ruins and then lost contact with Mariko, a passionate and political young woman. Is Conor destined to the same fate? An unforgettable story crossing continents and generations. But as Conor discovers forgiveness is an incredible gift.

From the reviews of The Tokyo Express:
“An intoxicating tale of love and misunderstanding stretched between rural Ireland and metropolitan Tokyo. This is an assured and passionately written book, which I would highly recommend.” Chris Lough, best-selling author of Bite.
“The ambition of Una Rose’s novel speaks out on every page: taking the reader on a journey from Tokyo to a close-knit and sometimes claustrophic Irish community. She shows a great love for her native Ireland and I suspect that those who share similar backgrounds will find much nostalgia.” Jane Davis, award winning author of Half Trues and White Lies.
“The Tokyo Express is near flawless in its writing, deeply-researched in its scale and scope, beautifully presented and highly enjoyable.” C. A Webster, Amazon reviewer
“A cross-cultural masterpiece! I do not doubt that this book would make a great film, well done Una!” LovetoRead, Amazon reviewer.
“One of those books where you really do want to read ‘just one more chapter’!” Dennis Thompson, children’s author.
